TrueCrypt will protect a file, hard drive, or operating system. This simple, free, and open-source software will provide a high level of security to prevent unauthorized access. Highly recommended; at least until quantum computing becomes a reality. TrueCrypt is no longer secure as of 2014. A good replacement for TrueCrypt is VeraCrypt. It even opens old TrueCrypt volumes.

AvaxHome is one of my favourite sites for downloading. The site contains books, magazines, audio-books, and comics available for download in PDF; it has music ripped in FLAC, and much, much more. All of the links are direct download, so I would recommend getting JDownloader for simplicity.
