The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are – Alan Watts

The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Areby Alan Watts, was the first book that I read by Watts. The insight into Vedanta and eastern philosophy given by this book will impress you and possibly alter your entire outlook on life.  This book provides a great starting point for the rest of Watts’ works.

Why Stock Markets Crash – Didier Sornette

Why Stock Markets Crash by Didier Sornette could be one of the most creative and unique scientific approaches to understanding the stock market I have read. The approach lies in complexity theory and involves identifying properties of critical self-organizing systems. I highly recommend this book for any reader interested in complexity theory, self-organization, and financial markets.

Security Analysis – Benjamin Graham and David Dodd

After reading the Intelligent Investor, I decided to read Security Analysis, both by Benjamin Graham and David Dodd. Warren Buffett mentions repeatedly that this is one of the best books on investments.  I have read the book twice and I agree with Buffett.

The Intelligent Investor – Benjamin Graham

The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham gives the reader a great introduction to the investment philosophy of Benjamin Graham and David Dodd.

The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation – Thich Nhat Hanh

I was introduced to meditation in a college class on the subject.  The teacher recommended The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation, by Thich Nhat Hanh.  This book provides the reader with a wonderful way to start a meditation practice.
