The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence has Declined – Steven Pinker

Steven Pinker’s book, The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence has Declined, provides a revolutionary new perspective concerning the history of violence in the human race. Probably one of the most insightful books I have read, it is definitely worth the time to read.

Bully for Brontosaurus – Stephen Jay Gould

For my first book by Stephen Jay Gould, I randomly chose Bully for Brontosaurus. This collection of essays provides thought provoking stories in human and biological history. I look forward to reading more of Gould’s works.

Genome: The Autobiography of a Species in 23 Chapters – Matt Ridley

I started started reading Genome: The Autobiography of a Species in 23 Chapters, my first time reading anything by Matt Ridley. Ridley knows how to synthesize a great non-fiction novel from dry scientific facts. In this regard, I think he is similar to Carl Zimmer.

The Road to Reality – Roger Penrose

The Road to Reality, by Roger Penrose, despite being a weighty book, provides a full summary of the mathematics and physics of the modern era. The book should provide an enjoyable read for those adept in mathematics and physics.

Insectopedia – Hugh Raffles

The Big Think interview with Hugh Raffles changed the way I think about insects. I want to read his book, Insectopedia. Cool and interesting man with unique perspective on anthropology.
