I was introduced to meditation in a college class on the subject. The teacher recommended The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation, by Thich Nhat Hanh. This book provides the reader with a wonderful way to start a meditation practice.

Probably my favorite book by Leon Lederman, The God Particle provides a fascinating summary of modern physics accessible to all readers. Anyone interested in understanding the Standard Model should check out this book. In fact, this book should be read by any student beginning a course in physics.

The Red Limit, by Timothy Ferris, narrates the story of the scientists and their discoveries which lead to the discovery that the universe is expanding.
