I guess nothing I have written should be surprising or new. However, my point is that governments of large nations are not really entirely run by humans. So we can’t entirely blame public officials; rather, some of the blame should be on algorithms inside the computers which helped make those decisions.

I think one of the next books I read will be Ray Kurzweil’s How to Create a Mind: The Secret of Human Thought Revealed. The book was recently published and Kurzweil has been known to produce some interesting ideas. In fact, I am planning to read a few of his other books as well.
A great paper by Jürgen Schmidhuber can be downloaded here. It’s called A Computer Scientist’s View of Life, the Universe, and Everything. The paper talks about computable universes. Schmidhuber has produced some really interesting work on neural economies and artificial intelligence. Check out his website.
