The Blind Watchmaker: Why the Evidence of Evolution Reveals a Universe without Design – Richard Dawkins

As a sequel  to The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker explains why intelligent design could not be a viable theory for the existence of life and consciousness. My short description of Richard Dawkins‘ book does not do the book justice. Also, watch the YouTube documentary.

The Selfish Gene – Richard Dawkins

Richard Dawkins‘ widely read book, The Selfish Gene, brought forth new ideas in genetics and evolution in 1976. The concept of meme and its implications are fascinating. I first heard about these ideas while reading James Gleick’s book, The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood.

On Human Nature – Edward O. Wilson

Anyone interested in a book which revolutionizes the study of humans should check out On Human Nature by Edward O. Wilson. The book was written in 1978 and now there are many books building upon its themes; I will post some of them in the future.

Lord of the Ants – NOVA

The life and work of Edward O. Wilson, neatly summarized in NOVA’s Lord of the Ants, could fill bookshelves. Wilson has an extraordinary mind which he uses to explore the natural world and synthesize patterns. I would encourage everyone to watch this NOVA episode on Wilson. Watch it here on YouTube.
